AU Government Access Card Scrapped

Autor brendon

With the scrapping of the Government Access Card and Signing of the Kyoto protocol so quickly after entering office, Kevin Rudd could do little now to make me dislike him. Kyoto will definitely increase the cost of living, however the expense is one I will gladly bear to give our children a planet to live on.

As for the Access card, I can see the benefits of implementing the system but the proposed design is seriously flawed. Based on the information at the time, the card was designed to store a massive amount of personal information secured only through some type of pin combination. With the cases of identity theft on the rise, this alone is reason enough not to put all this information in one location, such as a purse or wallet, where it can be easily lost, extracted or copied.

YouTube conveniently has a video demonstrating the flaws with this style of wireless storage and authentication device.
